It emails your submission and keeps no record, which surprises almost everyone the first time a lead goes missing. There are two popular fixes: <strong>Flamingo<\/strong>, the free add-on by Contact Form 7&#8217;s own author, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/jnkplugins.com\/entryvault\/\" class=\"jnk-linkweave-auto\">EntryVault<\/a><\/strong>, which captures Contact Form 7 plus sixteen other builders. <strong>For a lot of sites, Flamingo is the right answer<\/strong> &mdash; so let us start there.<\/p>\n<p class=\"jnk-meta\">Tested in July 2026 on a WordPress 7.0 \/ PHP 8.4 site running Contact Form 7 6.1.6, with Flamingo 2.6.3 and EntryVault 1.2.0 side by side, sending the same real submissions through both. Nothing here is from a vendor press kit.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>If Contact Form 7 is your only form plugin, install Flamingo and stop reading<\/h2>\n<p>We are going to lead with the part most comparison articles bury near the end. Flamingo is free, it is GPL, there is no paid tier and nobody is going to upsell you. It is written by Rock Lobster Inc., the developer behind Contact Form 7 itself, so the integration is as native as it gets, and version 2.6.4 was updated in August 2026 &mdash; this is a maintained plugin, not an abandoned one.<\/p>\n<p>It files every Contact Form 7 submission into an <strong>Inbound Messages<\/strong> screen in wp-admin, keeps an address book of the people who have contacted you, supports basic tags, and exports to CSV. Flamingo sees <strong>one<\/strong>.<\/span><\/div>\n<h2>What the Inbound Messages screen can actually do<\/h2>\n<p>Worth spelling out, because most write-ups treat Flamingo as a dumb log and it is not one. Above the message table are three controls, and the CSV export reads all of them rather than always taking everything:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Channel<\/strong> &mdash; Contact Form 7 creates one channel per form, so this filters to a single form.<\/li>\n<li><strong>All dates<\/strong> &mdash; a month dropdown. Whole months, not an arbitrary range.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Search<\/strong> &mdash; plain text across the messages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Spam is kept in its own view rather than discarded, so a false positive is recoverable. And the tagging Flamingo offers is on <em>contacts<\/em> in the address book, not on the messages themselves &mdash; a message carries its channel and nothing else. That scope is also its ceiling, and in practice the ceiling arrives from an unexpected direction: not a missing feature, but a second plugin.<\/p>\n<p>Real sites rarely stay on one builder. Contact Form 7 on the contact page from 2019, Gravity Forms added for an application, a WPForms popup for newsletter signups. Flamingo sees the Contact Form 7 third of that. The other two live behind their own screens, and now checking &ldquo;what came in today&rdquo; means visiting three places and remembering all three exist.<\/p>\n<p>EntryVault captures from <strong>seventeen<\/strong> form builders into one shared board, so every lead lands in the same place regardless of which plugin produced it.<\/p>\n<h2>An archive answers what arrived. A pipeline answers what is stuck<\/h2>\n<p>The second wall is about what you do with a submission once you can see it. A list sorted by date tells you what came in. It does not tell you who is handling this one, what stage it is at, which of these nobody has touched in a week, or whether anyone replied.<\/p>\n<p>EntryVault treats each submission as work. Entries sit on a Kanban board with stages, so a lead moves from New to Contacted to Won. You can assign an owner, add threaded internal notes, tag and filter, and open a detail view with a timeline of everything that has happened to it. Both store the submission independently of email delivery, by two different routes worth knowing apart. <strong>Flamingo<\/strong> is reached by Contact Form 7 itself &mdash; CF7 ships a Flamingo module that fires on the <code>wpcf7_submit<\/code> hook after the mail attempt, and it is handed an explicit list of statuses to save on: <code>spam<\/code>, <code>mail_sent<\/code> and <code>mail_failed<\/code>. <strong>EntryVault<\/strong> hooks <code>wpcf7_before_send_mail<\/code> instead, writing the entry before the mail is attempted at all. Same outcome, opposite side of the send.<\/p>\n<p>On a lead-generating site that reliability is the entire value proposition. A misconfigured SMTP setting or a bounced address does not cost you a delayed reply, it costs you an enquiry you never knew existed. Either plugin fixes that. Because EntryVault does its own capture, Contact Form 7 submissions flow into both &mdash; you are not migrating data so much as adding a second, richer view alongside a familiar one.<\/p>\n<p>So the low-risk path is simply to install EntryVault&#8217;s free build next to Flamingo and watch for a fortnight. If the board turns out to be how you actually want to work, deactivate Flamingo. If it turns out you only ever wanted the simple log, remove EntryVault and you have lost nothing. Nobody is holding your data hostage in either direction.<\/p>\n<p>There is no bulk one-click importer from Flamingo, and you mostly do not need one: point EntryVault at your forms and new submissions start collecting immediately. Pro&#8217;s historical backfill can pull in past entries where the source data still exists.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jnk-verdict\">\n<div>\n<p class=\"vh\">Choose Flamingo if<\/p>\n<p>You use Contact Form 7 and nothing else, you want a free and minimal safety net so no message is ever lost, you handle enquiries yourself without handing them off or tracking status, and you would rather have a small plugin than a capable one.
