Comparison
Formidable is not really a form plugin with extras. It is a data-application builder that happens to start with a form — entries become front-end directories, listings, calendars and dashboards. If that is what you are actually trying to build, this page will point you at them.
Formidable Views takes the entries a form collects and renders them on the front end as grids, tables, calendars and timelines, with graphs, charts and landing pages on top. They market it at a “$349 value” and bundle it from the Plus tier upward. Their app shortcuts ship prebuilt directories and real-estate listings.
Trinity Forms 2.3.0 added a Views layer of its own — front-end tables of your entries, with permissions, magic links and front-end editing. It is newer and narrower than theirs: we do not have calendar or timeline layouts, graphs and charts, landing pages built from entry data, or prebuilt directory and real-estate app shortcuts. If you want a member directory or a searchable listing site with charts on top, Formidable is still the deeper tool and we would rather say so.
Most plugins that charge a transaction fee charge it only on the free build. Formidable's Basic plan, at $79 a year list, carries this bullet verbatim: “Upgrade to Business to remove the 3% transaction fee.” Business is $399 a year at list price.
Their higher tiers are unambiguous that the fee then disappears — “Formidable does not charge transaction fees when you have a valid licence” — so this is not a permanent tax on their customers either. But if you buy their entry tier specifically in order to take payments, the fee comes with it, and that is worth knowing before you buy rather than after.
Trinity Forms includes Stripe and PayPal from the $49 tier and takes nothing from any transaction on any plan, including the free one.
| Formidable | Sites | List | Intro | Renews at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | 1 | $79 | $39.50 | $79 |
| Plus | up to 3 | $199 | $99.50 | $199 |
| Business | up to 7 | $399 | $199.50 | $399 |
| Elite | Unlimited | $599 | $299.50 | $599 |
Trinity Forms is $49 a year for one site, $89 for five, $189 for twenty-five and $299 for unlimited, with no introductory rate and therefore no renewal jump. Every tier has a lifetime licence at four times the yearly price, from $199 one-time.
The comparison that matters is not Basic against Personal. It is Formidable Business at $399 renewal, which is where the transaction fee disappears, against Trinity Forms Agency at $189 for far more sites. Unless you want the depth of their Views — calendars, timelines, charts, prebuilt directory apps — in which case the extra buys something ours does not reach.
The question is not which plugin has more features. It is what happens to a submission after it arrives.
If a submission is a message — an enquiry, a registration, an order, a survey response — then you need it stored, notified, exported and retained, and Trinity Forms does that from the free tier. If a submission is a record that other visitors will browse, search and filter on your site, then you need Views, and that is Formidable's whole reason to exist.
Choose Formidable if
Your submissions need to be displayed publicly as a directory, listing, calendar or dashboard; you want charts and landing pages built from form data; or you are building an application rather than collecting enquiries. Our Views layer covers front-end tables and editing; theirs goes considerably further.
Choose Trinity Forms if
Submissions are messages rather than published records, you take payments and do not want to reach the $399 tier to stop paying 3%, you want the price to stay the same at renewal, or you want a lifetime licence and a form that survives a lapsed one.
What counts against us. Trinity Forms' free build is not currently installable from the WordPress plugin directory — the listing is closed while an account matter is resolved, and the free version is a direct download from us in the meantime. Formidable also has a free Lite build that installs normally; we have not verified its limits, so we are not going to describe them.

Formidable shows introductory pricing at 50% off: Basic $39.50 a year for one site, Plus $99.50 for up to three, Business $199.50 for up to seven and Elite $299.50 for unlimited. Their footnote states renewals are at full price, so year two is $79, $199, $399 and $599. Checked August 2026.
Their Basic plan carries a 3% transaction fee, and their own bullet says to upgrade to Business to remove it. On Business and above they state that Formidable does not charge transaction fees when you have a valid licence. Trinity Forms charges 0% on every tier including free.
Formidable Views renders form entries on the front end as grids, tables, calendars and timelines, with graphs, charts and landing pages, and prebuilt app shortcuts for directories and listings. Formidable market it as a $349 value and include it from the Plus tier upward. Trinity Forms 2.3.0 added its own Views layer with front-end tables, permissions, magic links and front-end editing, but it has no calendar or timeline layouts, no charts and no prebuilt directory apps.
Formidable has a free Lite build, though it is not listed on their pricing page. We have not verified what its limits are, so we will not describe them here. Their paid plans start at $79 a year at list price.
If you need the full depth of front-end views — calendars, timelines, charts and prebuilt directory apps — Formidable is still the right choice. If you need front-end tables of your entries with editing, Trinity Forms has covered that since 2.3.0, starts at $49 a year with no transaction fee at any tier, and has a lifetime option from $199. Gravity Forms and WPForms are the other established options.
At renewal prices, Trinity Forms is cheaper at every comparable tier: $49 against $79 for one site, $89 for five sites against $199 for up to three, and $299 for unlimited against $599. The comparison narrows if you need the depth of Formidable Views; Trinity Forms covers front-end tables and editing but not calendars, timelines or charts.
