WPForms is the biggest form plugin in WordPress and it is genuinely good. Two things about how it is sold are worth knowing before you buy, and both are stated on their own pricing page: the free build takes a percentage of your payments, and the price you see is an introductory one.
From the WPForms pricing page, verbatim: “If you're on WPForms free version or using an inactive license, then a 3% platform fee will apply on all transactions.”
Read the second half of that sentence again, because it is the part people miss. The fee applies to the free version and to a licence that has lapsed. If you forget to renew, your existing, working payment forms start giving away three percent of everything they collect. That is a different thing from a feature switching off.
To be fair about it: on an active paid licence WPForms charges nothing, exactly as we do. This is not a permanent tax on their customers. It is a real cost for two specific groups — people evaluating on the free build, and people whose renewal quietly failed.
Every WPForms tier is shown at 50% off with an asterisk. The asterisk says: “Special introductory pricing, all renewals are at full price.” So the number to plan around is the one on the left.

Trinity Forms has no introductory rate, so there is nothing to renew into. Personal is $49 a year, Freelancer $89 for five sites, Agency $189 for twenty-five, Unlimited $299 — the same in year three as in year one. Every tier also has a lifetime licence at four times the yearly price, from $199 one-time.

This is the difference we would most want a buyer to understand, because it only matters on the day it goes wrong. On WPForms, a lapsed licence means the 3% platform fee returns to your payment forms.
On Trinity Forms, an expired licence gives you a 15-day grace period during which existing Stripe and PayPal forms keep taking payments normally. After that the Pro features switch off and the form reverts to its free tier — but the form still submits, notifications still send, and entries still store. You lose the premium fields, not the contact form on your contact page. And we never take a percentage, at any point, on any tier.
If you need a specific integration — Salesforce, Pipedrive, Authorize.Net — and we do not have it, that is the end of the conversation and you should buy WPForms. Feature parity arguments are worth nothing against one missing connector you actually need.
The same applies to templates. If your job is to ship forty forms for forty clients this quarter, 2,100 templates is a real, quantifiable time saving that our starter library does not match. And if you are working on a site somebody else will maintain, picking the plugin with six million installs and endless documentation is a defensible professional decision rather than a lazy one.
Choose WPForms if
You need an integration or gateway we do not have, you build many forms quickly and templates are your bottleneck, you want the largest support ecosystem in the category, or you are handing the site to someone else and want the safest default choice.
Choose Trinity Forms if
You take payments and would rather not lose 3% while evaluating or after a missed renewal, you want the price to be the same in year three, you want the form to keep working when the licence expires, or you would rather buy a lifetime licence once than subscribe forever.
What counts against us. Trinity Forms' free build is not currently installable from the WordPress plugin directory — the listing is closed while an account matter is resolved, and we do not control that timeline. The free version is a direct download from us in the meantime. WPForms installs in one click. If that matters to you, it is a fair reason to choose them.

WPForms Lite covers basic contact forms well, but a 3% platform fee applies to transactions on the free version, and payments, conditional logic and integrations are paid features. For flat pricing with no renewal jump and no transaction fees, Trinity Forms starts at $49 a year with a lifetime option from $199. Gravity Forms is the professional incumbent at $59 to $259 a year with no free tier. Fluent Forms has a well-regarded free build and a lifetime option. Formidable Forms is the strongest choice if you need front-end data views.
