Trinity Forms vs WPForms
WPForms is the biggest form plugin in WordPress, and it is genuinely good. Three things about how it is sold are worth knowing before you pick it, and all three come from WPForms' own pages: the free version doesn't keep entries on your site, Stripe payments carry a 3% fee until the Pro tier, and the price you see renews at double.
The short version
Free against free, the gap is bigger than most people expect. WPForms Lite has no conditional logic, no multi-page forms and no file uploads, and it doesn't store entries in your dashboard. Trinity Forms Free saves every entry in your own database, exports CSV, and includes conditional logic, multi-page forms, surveys, quizzes and form restrictions.
Paid against paid, WPForms has far more templates, integrations like Salesforce and Pipedrive, and more payment gateways. Trinity Forms puts HubSpot, ActiveCampaign, Zapier, Google Sheets and webhooks in its $29 tier, where WPForms keeps them for Pro or Elite, and charges no payment fee on any tier.

WPForms Lite doesn't keep your entries
This surprises people who install Lite for a contact form. WPForms' own documentation says “WPForms does not store entries without a paid license.” On Lite, each submission is emailed to you. You can turn on Lite Connect, which backs entries up to WPForms' servers, but “each entry backed up through Lite Connect is stored for 1 year. After that, the entry expires.” The backups come back into your dashboard only if you buy a licence.
Trinity Forms Free stores every entry in your WordPress database from the first submission. You can search them, mark them, add private notes and export them to CSV without paying or sending anything to us.
What Trinity Forms looks like

WPForms, for fairness: we have not bought a WPForms licence, so there are no screenshots of its paid features here and every paid row above comes from WPForms' own pages. WPForms Lite is free on wordpress.org if you want to try the builder.
The fee, and who pays it
On an active Pro or Elite licence WPForms charges nothing on top of Stripe, just like us. The fee lands on three groups:
- Anyone on Lite. The pricing page says a 3% platform fee applies on all transactions on the free version.
- Basic and Plus customers. Their Stripe guide names Lite and Basic, and their pricing table marks Stripe, Square and PayPal on both Basic and Plus with “Additional processing fees apply”.
- Anyone whose licence lapses. “If you're on WPForms free version or using an inactive license, then a 3% platform fees will apply on all transactions.” A missed renewal quietly starts taking 3% of every payment your forms collect.
Trinity Forms takes payments through Stripe (one-off and subscriptions), PayPal and Mollie from the $29 Pro tier and never takes a cut. Our free build doesn't take payments at all, though it has pricing fields with a running total.

Five sites is the fairest paid comparison, because that is where WPForms' fee goes away. WPForms Pro is $997.50 over three years. Trinity Forms Studio covers 10 sites for $49 a year ($147 over three years) or $149 once for a lifetime licence. Trinity Forms has no introductory rate, so the price doesn't change at renewal. For more sites, Agency covers unlimited sites at $99 a year.
When your licence expires
On WPForms, a lapsed licence brings back the 3% fee on payments. On Trinity Forms, Pro keeps working as normal for 30 days. After that you can't add new Pro fields, but forms keep the Pro fields they have, still submit and still send notifications. Payment forms keep taking payments with no time limit, so a late renewal doesn't cost you a sale, and we never take a percentage at any point.
How we compared. Trinity Forms rows were checked against the released 2.5.0 free and Pro builds, and the screenshots were taken from Pro 2.5.0 on WordPress 7.0.2 with demo data. WPForms rows come from the tier table on their pricing page (read programmatically, row by row, on 17 September 2026), their Stripe and Lite Connect docs, and the WPForms Lite listing on wordpress.org. We did not install WPForms' paid plugin. Rows marked as not tested are ones their public pages don't settle, often because the wordpress.org listing mixes Lite and Pro features in one list.
Where WPForms is simply the better buy
If you need Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM, Square, Authorize.Net or Mercado Pago and we don't have it, that settles it: buy WPForms. One missing connector you actually need outweighs any feature grid.
Templates are the same story. If you ship dozens of forms for clients each quarter, 2,100+ templates saves real time that our 12 starters won't. And if you're building a site someone else will maintain, the plugin with 5,000,000+ users and a decade of tutorials is a sensible professional choice.
Moving from WPForms to Trinity Forms
Trinity Forms has no WPForms importer today (we have one for Gravity Forms), so a move is manual:
- Export your entries first. On a paid WPForms licence, export to CSV. On Lite there is nothing stored on your site to export; your notification emails, or Lite Connect backups if you upgrade, are the record.
- Rebuild each form. Start from a Trinity template or a blank form. Conditional logic and multi-page steps are free.
- Recreate notifications and integrations. Email notifications are free. Mailchimp, HubSpot, Zapier and the rest need Pro.
- Swap the block or shortcode on each page, send a test submission, then deactivate WPForms.
Choose WPForms if
You need an integration or payment gateway we don't have, templates are your bottleneck, you want the largest support ecosystem in the category, or you need multisite and client licence management for an agency.
Choose Trinity Forms if
You want entries saved on your own site without paying; you take payments and don't want to reach a $399 tier to stop paying 3%; you want CRM integrations and webhooks at the entry price; or you want the same price in year three, or a lifetime licence.
What counts against us. Trinity Forms is not in the WordPress plugin directory at the moment: the listing is temporarily closed, pending a review. The free version is a direct download from us and updates itself from your WordPress dashboard. WPForms installs in one click and has 14,000+ ratings on wordpress.org. If that matters to you, it is a fair reason to choose them.
